Travis Kelce apparently tackled singer Justin Timberlake when they were playing golf, the star recalls on the latest episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Justin Timberlake was promoting his new music and tour announcement on the nightly show when the host brought up Travis Kelce and them bumping into each other on the green. They ended up playing a game between the four of them, Justin, Travis, Jimmy and Patrick Mahomes. But when an incredible shot happened, Travis Kelce couldn’t keep his excitement and Justin Timberlake paid the price.
Justin Timberlake gets knocked down by Travis Kelce
Jimmy brought up the last time they played golf together, telling the crowd the Cry Me A River singer has taken part of the 8AM Invitational tournament in Las Vegas for the past two years. Jimmy tagged along and explains what happens.
“So I’m in the bunker, whatever, but Justin goes ‘Hey dude, you got hit it out’, we’re playing against Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes,” he starts off.
“‘So I get in this thing, and you’ll go ‘I’ll help you’, and you get behind me.
Justin then gives Jimmy tips on how to stand and what to do with his feet – much to his annoyance. He’s trying his best. Then they show the video of Jimmy taking the shot from the bunker, it hits the green and goes straight into the hole. Incredible.
Travis comes running in, lifts Jimmy into the air as he’s over the moon he’s done it.
“Even the other team was rooting for me, that’s how bad I am,” Jimmy laughs. But then Justin Timberlake explains Travis Kelce’s celebration was too much for him.
He starts running towards Justin after hugging Jimmy: “Travis Kelce almost… I saw my life flash before my eyes.
“He went up and did one of those you know when they jump, ‘and I have to do it’, and I forgot he weighs like 80 lbs more than me.”
As Travis Kelce jumps in the air with Justin, he’s too powerful, and we see Timberlake take the brunt of the impact and fall to the ground. Woops.
“Now, while that might not look like much, my neck for like a week,” Justin explains he couldn’t move it for several days.
But Jimmy simply explains, “It’s Travis Kelce,” and that says it all.
Justin and Travis are quite close – they ‘text’
The pair then talk about how Travis spoke about who the most famous person contact is in his phone. The TV star tells the Sexy Back singer the NFL player called him out. Travis didn’t say Taylor Swift was the most famous person, but Justin – quite the compliment.
So that piqued his interest as the host asks if they talk all the time. But dad Justin explained they “text” but he “doesn’t want to bother him”.
“He’s busy right now,” the 42-year-old quipped.
“He’s in the zone.”
