You can now recreate the famous scene from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York by staying at the Plaza Hotel in New York … but it might just break the bank.
In the movie‘s iconic scenes, Kevin McAllister ends up in the hotel and uses his dad’s credit card to fit the bill. The lost youngster uses the card to pay for a room with “one of those little refrigerators you have to open with a key” and an “extra large” bed. This room is actually the Grand Penthouse Suite that costs thousands per night (and this was over three decades ago), before eating three big scoops of ice cream from room service. Not to mention, Kevin casually bumps into celebrity Donald Trump of all people and asks for directions to the building lobby. 1989 was a wild time.
You can stay at the real-life Home Alone 2 hotel
To stay in the penthouse, you might want to have quite a lot saved up, as staying there over the Christmas period – December 23 through 26 -will cost you between $3.6k and $46k for just ONE night for two adults and two children. Those figures made us sweat too.
The Penthouse features “a large living room with stunning views of Central Park, a dining area, powder room, plus one king bedroom with bathroom”. While the second floor has a “master bedroom with king bed, one full bath, and expansive private terrace.”
Year-round, the suite seems to be quite booked up, which isn’t surprising considering it has a great view, being on the 20th floor, and its Hollywood legacy. Other rooms, however, seem to carry similar luxuries. Though no matter when you stay at the hotel, you’ll be paying a pretty penny. For example, in the coming June, the Plaza King room featuring a one king-sized bed and a bathroom with 24-carat gold-plated Sherle Wagner faucets. This room costs $1360 per night for two adults in September.

To stay in the Eloise 1 Br King for three nights in October for one adult and child, which is absolutely decked to the brim in pink, it’ll cost you $3743. The room’s bed has “a sparkly pink headboard and there’s a zebra carpet on the floor” with ‘pink all over the bathroom!” For one person staying in the Pulitzer Fifth Ave 1 Bedroom Suite in May for $3195, you will get High ceilings and views of 5th Avenue, separate living room, powder room, and a large bathroom with separate shower.” The room even includes butler service!
The Home Alone experience
Not only can you stay at the Plaza Hotel in the exact room Kevin lounges in, but the establishment offers a package, especially for Home Alone fanatics.
You will stay in the Grand Penthouse Two Bedroom Terrace Suite and enjoy “a large living room with stunning views of Central Park, a dining area, powder room, plus one king bedroom with bathroom.” Then on the second floor, there’s a “master bedroom with king bed, one full bath, and expansive private terrace.”
In the package, you will also have a limousine ride, like the one Kevin enjoys, to see the sights of the US capital city. For food, you will be treated to a large cheese pizza and a Home Alone Sundae during your hotel stay. The sundae features 16 scoops of assorted ice cream, whipped cream, maraschino cherries, M&M’s, brownie bits, chocolate, caramel, and raspberry sauce.
Macaulay Culkin finally receives a star on Walk of Fame
After many years of entertaining fans as Kevin, Macaulay Culkin, has finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His on-screen mom, Catherine O’Hara, was even there to speak about Macaulay at the event! How lovely.
Announcing the honor, the institution said on its Instagram: “Actor Macaulay Culkin will be honored with the 2,765th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, December 1st, at 11:30 a.m. PT. Star will be located at 6353 Hollywood Blvd. Culkin will receive his star in the category of Motion Pictures.”
During his speech, Macaulay caused the tears to flow as he emotionally thanked fiancée Brenda Song.
The 43-year-old said: “You’re not only the best woman I’ve ever known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known. You’ve given me just all my purpose. You’ve given me family.”
He then joked about the Disney star: “And after the birth of our two boys, you’ve become one of my three favorite people.”
